Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) is one of the major air carriers and leaders of the CIS aviation community. The airline's overall route network is 40 destinations in 25 countries. In 2018, Azerbaijan Airlines carries more than 2.3 million passengers. Civil aviation of Azerbaijan fully meets the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and AZAL is a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the most influential civil aviation association. Azerbaijan's national air carrier is a member of the board of the Azerbaijan Tourism Association (AZTA). The UK's most renowned consulting company, Skytrax, has won the prestigious '4 Stars' rating, which has finally been approved in July 2018. AZAL 18 has the latest airplane aircraft. AZAL's headquarters is located in Baku, at Heydar Aliyev International Airport, which meets international standards. In May 2018, Heydar Aliyev International Airport was awarded the highest "5 Stars" prize of the prestigious Skytrax World Airport Awards.
